Global Kids Fashion Week

So I know, iv been on a wee bit of a hiatus. College has officially gotten the better off me, as well as working a 9-5 on my days off. I really don't think I can juggle it all anymore. Therefore some things have been slacking - most likely my blog! I hate not writing on here occasionally but I haven't been able to stop. However this will change I promise.

So rant and apologies over, on to the important stuff! Recently I received an email about this amazing new fashion venture.

On Tuesday 6th November, Kids Company founder Camilla Batmanghelidjh, and Alex Theophanous, the founder of global style destination for kids, AlexandAlexa.com, announced the first ever Global Kids’ Fashion Week. It's planned to take place in March 2013, as a finale to the fashion week season. Global Kids Fashion Week will cast a spotlight on premium kids’ fashion, from both established designers as well as emerging names. This is not only a great way to get these wonderful designers known as well as giving the children the chance to shine.

It is planned as a 3 day event, where Runway shows and performances, informative exhibitions, industry talks, and playful activities will all occur . All ticket sales proceeds to the public show will be donated to the Kids Company Charity. This makes the event even more special.

The whole aim of the Global Kids Fashion Week is to educate and inspire people about Kids’ fashion and to celebrating how this specialist category has thrived and evolved over the past five years.

I personally don't think kids fashion gets the recognition it really and truly deserves. Although not widely recognised every child will remember key pieces he or she used to wear. I will always to this day remember my Floral Doc Martians , Saved By The Bell-ish printed padded coat and my huge array of party dresses all judged on how they looked when I twirled. These will be memories I will keep forever. Although some may not see it as a big this , but fashion plays a huge roll in our lives when we are young. This really gives the designers a great platform to be recognised for their work.

I really think this is an amazing project and quite shocked nobody came up with the idea before hand. What do you guys all think??

X
